If there's any day that you should leave your politics in the office and your diet by the door, it would be Christmas.

Carve some turkey, don't forget the cranberry glaze. Hang a mistletoe with somebody cute. Sneak a slice of shepherd's pie. Be a little less stingy with hugs. Wish your postman and surprise him with a bag of sugar cookies, he has it tough in the festive seasons. Don't wear black. Laugh. Run your camera batteries flat with nonsensical photos that captures the moments that are hard to define. Buy your mother something nice. Sing along to christmas songs in shopping malls and smile at people who stare, they don't know what they're missing out those poor sods. Toffee nut latte while you finish up on the cards. Send a few to people who will never expect them, you will make their day. Give our candy canes although you secretly think it doesn't taste good, it's still pretty after all. Gather your loved ones close. Group hugs are more heartwarming than you think. Eat a gingerbread man. Be a daddy's little girl, if you're not already one. Charm strangers, make new friends.

Spread the joy, share the love. It's my favorite day of the year.

I've been on my feet and about ever since the plane taxied onto the Singapore runway two days ago from Korea. I would love to dissect my trip day by day meal by meal and pore through photos along with you but there's no time for it at the moment. I would love to share with you lovely conversations I've had with people dear to me but there's no time. I would love to meet you for coffee and analyse how happy you are but there's no time. I would love to sift through racks of clothes that are on glorious half-off prices but there's no time. I would love to give careful thought to christmas gifts for each and everyone of the people that matters but tragic to say, even for that my time is sparse. I would love to write personal heartfelt letters to friends I'm leaving behind for the coming 6 months but there is just, no, time.

I would love to pause, inhale, remember the scent of home, before jetting off to Seattle next Monday, but that just doesn't seem very plausible at the moment. Visas, course registrations, travel insurance, the sheer task of packing, are robbing me of time, a lot of it.


I leave for the States next MONDAY, good grief.

I'm actually perched on one of the stiff chairs scattered across the boarding room in the airport, waiting to board the plane to Korea. Poured through a magazine bought from the drugstore, learned new work out moves to get Jennifer Aniston's shoulders, coveted a sick pair of leopard printed Alexander Wangs, counted the number of absurdly ugly plaid scarves (seventeen), and feeling the beginning of an crick in my neck, and the flight is still not ready when we were supposed to be in the plane a good twenty minutes ago.

Efficiency, it's a dying breed.

In other news, I will be in Korea for the coming week. Updates if it's possible. If not, give my love to your mothers and I will see you readers in a bit.
